Tornado confirmed near Brookville Monday night

NWS officials have confirmed tornado touch down

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado did touch down near Brookville Monday night.


The majority of the damage occurred around Pea Ridge Road and Garr Hill Road around 6:30 p.m.


"Several homes in this area had minor roof and siding damage and numerous trees were damaged and/or uprooted. At one residence, a back yard barn was completely destroyed and a house garage had partial wall and roof collapse," the National Weather Service said.


Forecasters say the tornado touched down for several minutes with wind speeds near 85 miles per hour.


Photos provided by the Facebook group Weather Wave as well as Gayle Harnishfeger show at least one damaged home and several downed trees.
