Two Eighth Grade Students Create Basketball Skills Camp for a Good Cause

Updated: Apr 11

Proceeds go to Special Olympics

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Erica Capper and Jack Noah are eighth grade students at St. Mary’s School in Greensburg.

They were asked by a teacher to create a project that either impacts themselves, their families, or the community.

Erica and Jack decided to partner together because they both like helping people.

They also like playing basketball. Erica is on the girl’s team and Jack is on the boy’s team.

Those two have organized a basketball skills camp for young kids in kindergarten through fourth grade.

It will be held from 10:30am to noon on Saturday, May 11th.

The 812 spoke with Erica and found out that this basketball camp has a much bigger meaning.

Erica has a passion for Special Olympics and wants all proceeds to go to the Decatur County Special Olympics.

“It means a lot to help the Special Olympics community. I don’t think they get enough attention. We see posts on Facebook but don’t give them enough awareness,” Capper told The 812.

Erica and Jack's basketball camp has just been approved by St. Mary’s. You can register here.
