Teams from 20 states competed in Tennessee this weekend
(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) -- Youth football in Southeast Indiana was well-represented at a national tournament in Tennessee this weekend.
The Battle in Rocky Top National Tournament features teams from 6-years-old to 14-years-old from 20 different states.
The Hoosier Elite 14U team was comprised of 16 players from East Central, Lawrenceburg and South Dearborn.
The boys put up a dominating performance by only giving up six points all weekend. They outscored their opponents 68-6 in four games.
The team beat the third place Reapers out of West Virginia, the top-seeded Tennessee Ducks, and the second place team from West Virginia to claim the championship.
Franklin County 3rd graders claim top spot at tournament
Franklin County youth football left their mark in Knoxville over the weekend.
The Wildcats third grade team started the tournament with a 14-0 upset over a team from South Carolina.
They followed that up with a 32-14 win over a team from North Carolina. The Wildcats then had a convincing 24-0 performance over the North Georgia Trailhawks to advance to the championship.
The third graders beat the Whitehouse Warriors 14-6 to bring a national trophy back to Franklin County.
