Holton native served in Korean War
(HOLTON, Ind.) – We are recognizing Allen Franklin, of Holton, as our Veteran of the Week.
Allen served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
For his military service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the U.N. Service Medal.
Franklin didn’t stop giving back once his service days came to an end.
He would later serve on Ripley County Council for two terms and was an Otter Creek precinct committeeman.
Allen also served on the Holton Fire Department and was eventually named an honorary member.
He lived his entire life in the Holton community, always working hard on his farm.
Allen passed away in 2016 but will forever be remembered by family and friends.
Thank you, Allen, for your service to our great nation as well as your service to Holton and Ripley County.
