This week we're celebrating Edward "Ski" Gerdowsky, of Batesville, and his service to our country.
Gerdowsky was born in New York and entered the armed forces on September 26, 1966 at the age of 19. He served in the infantry and was stationed in Korea for 19 months.
He received the National Defense Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Gerdowsky ended his service as a Sgt. E5, honorably discharged on September 25, 1969.
Following the service, he and his wife, Pam, settled in Batesville and have lived here for nearly 50 years. They had four children, Ron, Andy, Chad and Jill.
Ed and Pam have given back to the community of Batesville for many years, including his service on Batesville Fire & EMS.
Thank you for your service Ed!
