Was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with “V” for Valor.
(VEVAY, Ind.) -- This week we're recognizing Paul Covington Jr. who has served our country and community his entire life.
He served in the Army in the 23rd Infantry, 11th Brigade during the Vietnam War.
Paul was stationed at Duc Pho in South Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with “V” for Valor.
After the military, he continued his service to others as a first responder and instructor.
Covington has served as an EMT, CPR Instructor, and is a member of the East Enterprise Fire Department.
He is also a member of the Indiana Fire Instructors Association which provides training and resources to first responders.
"He has trained fire fighters/inspectors all over the states," said the person who nominated him.
Paul owned his own business, Shilo Consultants, until he developed Parkinson’s disease and could no longer physically complete the work.
Doctors say the Parkinson’s is due to being exposed to Agent Orange.
He enjoys spending time with his family, maintaining his small farm, and he continues to be a member of the fire department.
We are extremely proud to spotlight Paul Covington and truly appreciate the service you've given to so many others throughout your life.
