Wanted man leads police on high-speed chase on U.S. 50

Wanted in Dearborn County

(NEBRASKA, Ind.) – A man with felony warrants from Dearborn and Jennings County is behind bars tonight.

Jennings County deputies say 35-year-old Michael Vance was initially pulled over in the small town of Nebraska around 2:40 p.m. Thursday.

Vance initially pulled over but then sped away, police said.

Speeds hit upwards of 90 miles-per-hour toward Holton, according to deputies.

When Mr. Vance observed Ripley County Deputies set up on US Highway 50 with stop sticks, he attempted to evade law enforcement through a cornfield and onto a county road in Ripley County,” officers said.

Vance allegedly went down county roads before going onto S.R. 421 toward Versailles.

“Mr. Vance then observed Indiana State Police Troopers set up with stop sticks and turned around continuing to evade law enforcement toward Jefferson County,” police added.

A Jennings County dispatcher was on the phone with Vance and asked him to surrender.

Vance eventually surrendered near the Ripley and Jennings County line.

Investigators say there were numerous illegal items that Vance threw out of the vehicle during the pursuit.

He is being held in Jennings County and will soon be transferred to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

Vance is facing several drug-related charges along with resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.
