Ward hit the shot at the end of the third quarter
(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- A South Ripley basketball player deserves to be on Sportscenter Top 10!
Blaine Ward sunk a nearly full-court shot at the end of the third quarter during the 100th annual Ripley County Basketball Tournament in Batesville on Saturday night.
The 812 spoke with the South Ripley junior who said, "It almost didn’t feel real!"
"It was the loudest I’ve ever heard our fans and it gave us back the momentum going into the fourth quarter. Our bench and crowd energy were through the roof," he recalled.
Ward added that one referee said the shot should have counted for five points while his fellow Raiders were also impressed.
"My teammates told me I need to shoot everything now that I’ve seen that one go in," Ward said.
South Ripley ended up losing to Batesville but Ward earned a spot on the all-county team for his performance during the tournament.
