YMCA to take over Batesville afterschool care

New program to be called Y Pack

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- The Southeastern Indiana YMCA will oversee the afterschool care program at Batesville Primary beginning this fall.

Batesville Schools has provided Latchkey afterschool care for more than a decade.

“We are excited to announce that the Latchkey program will be transitioning under the leadership and supervision of the Southeastern Indiana YMCA,” says Paul Ketcham, BCSC Superintendent.

The program will now be known as Y Pack.

It's a transition that makes sense for both organizations as YMCA's across the nation provide afterschool programming at more than 10,000 sites, with 85% of the programs being within schools.

The Y Pack afterschool program is for pre-K through sixth graders, and is provided until 6 p.m.

The new partnership takes effect for the 2024-2025 school year and the YMCA will share more information and pricing details later this month.
