More than 120 pairs of shoes donated
(MILAN, Ind.) -- Less fortunate students at Milan got a surprise Christmas gift on Friday.
The school hand-delivered a brand new pair of shoes to elementary, middle and high school students.
The shoes were purchased by the Milan American Legion. The students who recieved them are part of the Weekend Backpack program in Ripley County.
The shoes came at a discount price after Milan principal Travis Rohrig reached out to the father of Dallas Mavericks player Grant Williams.
There were more than 120 pairs of shoes handed out Friday. The elementary school has kept about 40 pairs on reserve for the times when kids need to a change of shoes.
