Greensburg FFA brings petting zoo to elementary kids

Students saw horses, cows, rabbits, sheep and more

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Greensburg’s FFA program left the high school to bring some agriculture to young students on Thursday.

They hosted a petting zoo to allow elementary students to get up close and personal with farm animals.

“We’re in a pretty big agriculture community so it’s exciting to see and teach the youth about ag,” said Greensburg FFA President Justin Bedel. “One percent of the population is farmers and this is pretty important to show how important farming is throughout the entire planet.”

The petting zoo was part of the National FFA Week, where programs across Southeast Indiana are hosting unique events.

Bedel credited Greensburg FFA Advisor Quinn Wilds and the school corporation for allowing events like this to happen.

“It is exciting to recognize FFA and how this program is a lot more than just farming. It is about building leaders and maximizing opportunities here on earth,” Bedel added.
